Glenfield College. Now COLLEGE. OH WOW COLLEGE was something else for me. Academically I still tried my best and I received the Proximate Dux Award for being 2nd place out of my year group. But the biggest focus for me during college was learning how to be social and to interact with people properly.
Basically soft skills. I realised in my first year of college that I can have a “negative” first impression to people I meet for the first time. Other than the friends I had from intermediate, I struggled to make new ones. So I would observe my friends who are more “socially inept” and see how they talk to people and the biggest thing I learnt was they listened to what others say.
After I understood that, everything came to place and I was able to make friends so much easier and also deepen the friendships I had before. Getting all the awards for academics and sports was all fun but to me the most memorable part of college was the times when me and my friends would goof around and have stupid arguments in class and laugh until we couldn’t breathe.
